What They Do: Eli Lilly, through its Elanco division, develops and markets products for animal health and food animal production in 100 countries. Elanco's current product line concentrates on four therapeutic classes: antibacterials, parasiticides, anticoccidials, and productivity enhancers.
What They Produce: Through its Elanco division, Eli Lilly makes Posilac, which it acquired from Monsanto in 2008. Posilac is a Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH or BST) that is injected into cows to increase milk production. Elanco also makes antibacterials, vaccines and parasiticides for controlling disease in food animals, and "productivity enhancers" to increase the amount of meat, milk, or eggs from each animal.
